Many businesses already have a website, but does it generate them profit? There are only two critical factors to your website’s success:
- 1. Getting visitors to your website &
- 2. Turning those visitors into paying customers
So we need to optimize your website for both areas.
Unfortunately most existing websites fail in both areas. They are not optimised for getting you visitors, and certainly not optimised for converting those visitors into paying customers.
The great news is that this also applies to your competitors. They are most likely failing in these areas too!
In the language “search engine optimisation” (known as SEO) optimising your site for getting visitors is referred to as “On Page Factors” as they relate to everything about your actual website and its pages. As mentioned earlier, most websites were not built from a SEO point of view, hence my experience with prior customers has been that many have had catastrophic problems in their design that has effectively shut them out of getting ANY rankings at all!
There are 13 major factors analysed for “On Page” factors on your website’s pages three of which include your Meta Data, internal linking structure & W3C compliance.
One point to note is that everything we do at this point, and in further stages are absolutely “SEO friendly” or using the language of SEO – “White Hat Methods” At no stage do we engage in any questionable SEO practices (called “Black Hat Strategies” that are against Google’s guidelines & terms of service. Back in the late 90’s some webmasters used to use trickery to try and get their websites ranked high. If Google catches you doing any of these shady practices (and Google is excellent at doing so these days) your website could be kicked out and banned from the Google index completely!
Why should you spend the time optimising your website for visitors and conversion? There is no point spending money on a website that no-one visits because they cannot find it. Just putting your www.yourbusinessname.com.au on your stationary is not going to ‘drive’ visitors to your website.
There are many website packages available on the market, that show websites available for only a few hundred dollars. I have personal experience – when I bought a “shopping cart” package many years ago for $80. I then spend the next 3 months learning how to use it, writing the content, uploading pictures, my logo, products, and then sat back waiting for the sales to come in…..and waiting…..and waiting!
I thought the site looked great (ok I was biased) but it made me no money.
Laurie & Marguerita Ratcliffe from “Oomph Driver” also shared their “horror story” with me. They spent $7000 on their first website only to have no one visit it (or be able to find it). So after pulling their hair out of trying to get any results, they eventually threw the whole site out and started again from scratch.
In the beginning I made the comment that there is no point in having a website if no-one can find it. I’d like to now add the second part to the equation…
…there is no point in having a website that doesn’t generate you sales!
If you have a website that nobody can find – then you’ve wasted your money
But equally if you are having hundreds of people visiting your website, but none of these visitors are ‘converting’ into customers – you’ve also wasted your money.
Our job is to optimize your website so that it pays for itself many times over.

In order to own a niche, you need to demonstrate that you cover all aspects of that topic or niche. The easiest way to explain it would be as follows:
Consider you have a website on “Golf”. If you were an expert on the subject of Golf, then one would expect (and the search engines are certainly smart enough these days to expect) that you would use words such as “putter, green, Tiger Woods and PGA” for example.
Google is sophisticated enough to already know what topics you should be covering in order to be considered an “expert” or “authority” on any subject.
For this reason, we will prepare you a plan of each and every topic you should be covering (by the way of information, articles or content) that will have you shown as the expert in your niche.
- a) Using your top level keywords as a basis, we will complete a detailed market and keyword analysis, taking into account things like Latent Semantic Indexing and Synonym Co-occurrence.
Output from this analysis will be a market driven keyword/keyphrase list which includes a theme, subthemes, niches, microniches, and phrases (highly relevant but decreasing in importance) along with ancillary data (including base traffic metrics, competitive information, theme relevance, market share, content strategy, etc.)
- b) We will develop and give you a content “architecture” diagram including theme, silos, (possibly subthemes), and article topics.
- c) We will prepare and send you a linking diagram for the content pages which will conserve theme density.
- d) We will analyse your competition, your market and plan a campaign to dominate your market and competitors.
With this blue print, we’ll have what you need to get started; all you have to do is write content / articles or use existing content you’ve already got (as long as it matches the keyword focus outlined in the architecture diagram), create your pages, and upload them to your web site.
There is no point in having a website if you are not getting any visitors.
- 85% of Australian searches last month were on Google (Hitwise)
- 2 out of 3 people never looked past the first page of results
- 80% of users click an ad without scrolling
Most website design companies have long lists of clients they have built sites for…but if you actually visit the client’s site, you can often see there are no customers visiting their website! www.alexa.com has a free tool which shows you how much traffic is coming to a particular website. As explained before, there’s no point building a website if no-one visits it! It would be like spending $20,000 on a yellow pages add for your business, but placing it in the “florists” section of the yellow pages.
